2 Day Nutrition Challenge

Smoothies are an extremely easy way to get in more fruits and vegetables. If you find it hard to eat fruits and vegetables on a regular basis, consider adding a homemade smoothie to your morning or as a recovery drink after your workout.

You can find so many recipes on the internet and via Pinterest. I highly suggest giving green smoothies a try. It’s an easy way to get in those nutrition-packed leafy greens. If you are new to green smoothies, start with a spinach base and use a little less ¬†spinach than the recipe calls for. Here is a recipe I started with when I first made a smoothie at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup green tea or coconut water
  • 2 cups spinach leaves
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries or other favorite fruit (I also love using a banana or frozen pineapple)
  • 1 teaspoon honey to sweeten
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds

Mix up all the ingredients in a blender and enjoy! I like my smoothies super cold so if I use fruit that is not frozen, I definitely add ice. If you do not have some of the ingredients above, improvise or leave out. The coconut oil and chia seeds are extra boosts and not needed for taste.
